  1. This copyright file applies both to the source package console-setup
  2. and the binary Debian packages built from it.

  4. In short, if you use console-setup with precompiled keyboard files,
  5. then all installed files are covered by simple permissive non-copyleft
  6. free software licenses.  However, several of the tools used for the
  7. compilation of the package (in particular 'ckbcomp' and 'bdf2psf') are
  8. covered by GPL, version 2 or later.  The Perl program 'ckbcomp' is
  9. installed in the system when console-setup is not used with
  10. precompiled keyboard files.

  14. All console fonts are public domain by nature.

  16. The source BDF-fonts in the directory Fonts/bdf are distributed under
  17. many different licenses, see in the file copyright.fonts for details.

  19. The program 'bdf2psf' used to convert the fonts from BDF format to the
  20. format used on the consoles of Linux and FreeBSD is covered by GPL,
  21. version 2 or later.

  23. The keyboard files are borrowed from the XKeyboardConfig package.  For

  29. Please notice, that Debian packages do not include the XKB files (they
  30. are provided by a separate package xkb-data).  When, however, the

  33. /usr/share/doc/keyboard-configuration/copyright.xkb.gz apply.
